The Decatur ISD Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to funding initiatives that maximize educational opportunities within Decatur ISD and support the success of its students and staff.
Adopt-a-Grant is a new way to involve the community in making an impact at DISD. Similar to crowdfunding, this public website allows community members to identify and fund grants that they are passionate about -- either by paying for a portion of that grant or by paying to cover the entire grant!
The site will be open from Friday 11/14/2025 until 11:59 pm on Sunday 1/11/2026.
For the 2025-26 school year, DEF has received over 60 grant requests totaling over $150,000

1. Find Adopt-a-Grant in this website's navigation bar to go to webpages with grants filtered by campus.
2. The Search bar and Filter dropdown below can help you tailor the grants to the types of items, classroom subjects, and impacts that you're passionate about!
3. Each grant proposal has a goal progress bar that shows how much is remaining until the grant is fully funded. Help get those partially funded grants over the finish line!
4. Clicking on a grant will take you to its informational page where you can view the image in more detail and read the description of what that grant proposal seeks to achieve.
5. When you find a grant proposal you want to contribute towards, set your contribution amount and it will go into your cart. Contributing towards a grant proposal is as simple as shopping at an online store!

Can I buy a portion of a grant?
Yes! Grants are crowdfunded. The minimum donation required is $1. The goal progress bar for each grant shows how much has been contributed and how much remains.
What happens after the grant is fully funded?
The grant proposer(s) will receive a wonderful notification that their grant is funded and the name(s) of the contributor(s). DEF will then work with DISD to procure the grant materials. Depending on the scope of the grant and the timing of the funding, the grant could potentially be implemented during the Spring 2026 semester. Otherwise, we anticipate the grant will not be implemented until the 2026-2027 school year.
What happens if the grant is only partially funded when the Adopt-a-Grant website closes?
It is our strong hope that all grants be fully funded. Should a grant only be partially funded, the DEF Board of Directors will make the determination as aligned to budget to best fulfill the grant proposal. It is not guaranteed that grants proposals only partially funded will be fully funded after review by DEF. In the event that you contribute to a grant proposal that is not fully funded after review by DEF, we will contact you about next steps with your donation.
