The NEST Learning Lab: Where We Build Our Wings
Raegan Bayless. Reaches: Entrepreneurship students at Decatur High School, working with other CTE classes
Grant description
Eagles do not learn to fly by staying in the nest. They have to stretch their wings, wobble a little, figure things out, and try again. Entrepreneurship class works the same way. The NEST Learning Lab grant will give students a place to do the real work of building something - from an idea to a product customers might actually want to buy. Students will use design software, an apparel press, and an embroidery machine to create products, figure out what they cost, get them in front of real customers, listen to feedback, and make changes. The goal is not to make sure every student gets everything right the first time. It is to give students a place to create, take thoughtful risks, learn from failure, and try again before they leave the NEST.
