Building Mathematical Thinkers Through Hands-On Learning
Emily Lawson, Melissa Hamaker. Reaches: 2nd grade math students at Carson Elementary
Grant description
I plan to create hands-on math stations with tools, games, manipulatives, and organized storage supporting blended learning. These resources will support the 2nd grade TEKS, including number sense, place value, addition and subtraction, algebraic reasoning, geometry, measurement, data, and financial literacy. Students will build, model, solve, explain, and apply concepts through engaging partner and small-group activities. Students benefit from moving between concrete models, pictures, mathematical language, and numbers. Storage carts will keep materials organized and accessible. These reusable resources will support differentiation, collaboration, problem-solving, and mathematical confidence throughout the school year.
