Impact: 8th Grade SOAR students

Our campus is committed to fostering creativity, collaboration, and college and career readiness among all students. One way we celebrate these values is through projects that allow students to design, build, and showcase their talents in meaningful ways. To support these efforts, we are requesting funding for a computer, Silhouette cutting machine, and related supplies. These tools will empower students to take ownership of decorating the school environment and will enhance participation in our annual College Door Decorating Contest.

The College Door Decorating Contest is one of our most anticipated traditions, designed to promote college awareness and pride across our campus. Each classroom adopts a college or university and works together to design a door that highlights its mascot, traditions, and academic programs. This activity not only builds school spirit but also increases students’ exposure to higher education options in a fun and engaging way. With the right resources, students will be able to expand their creativity and produce professional-quality designs that reflect their hard work and school pride.

Beyond the contest, these resources will provide year-round opportunities for students to design and create. The computer and Silhouette machine will allow them to cut vinyl, cardstock, and other materials for posters, banners, displays, and decorations throughout the school. Students will be able to contribute to promoting school events, recognizing peers and staff, and creating an environment that feels welcoming and inspiring. By involving students in these projects, we are giving them not only a chance to showcase their talents but also valuable exposure to design technology, teamwork, and project management.
