The Waveform Project: Visualizing Electricity in Automotive Applications
Morgan Wheeler, Richard Routh. Reaches: Automotive technology students at Decatur High School
Grant description
This grant will fund the purchase of 4 pico brand automotive oscilloscope diagnostic kits. The purpose of these kits is to allow students the ability to physically see electricity flowing through electronics in th form of a graph on a screen. These graphs help students to understand what is happening with regard to voltage spikes, drops, current flow and other diagnostic waveforms different scenarios present inside automotive systems such as ignition, electric motor operation, pulse width modulation, position sensors, CAN systems and more. With emerging technology in modern vehicles it becomes more and more necessary to see inside a component in order to properly diagnose a concern.
