Grant description

As the new Professional School Counselor at Carson, I have quickly learned that one of the greatest barriers facing some of our students is not only academics--it is having their most basic needs met. When children are hungry, do not have appropriate clothing or shoes or lack basic hygiene supplies at home, it can affect their ability to feel comfortable, confident, and ability to learn. My goal is to establish a Carson Elementary Student Basic Needs Resource Closet that will allow us to respond quickly and discreetly when a student or family experiences an immediate need.
