This grant will allow our behavior students opportunities to succeed.
Anxiety Reduction Lava Lamps Rationale: Lava lamps provide calming, visual sensory input that can help reduce anxiety and stress levels for students. The slow, soothing movement of the lava can serve as a grounding tool during moments of heightened emotional arousal, promoting self-regulation and focus.
Study Pod Desks Rationale: Study pod desks create individual workspaces that minimize student-to-student interaction during instruction time. This setup reduces distractions, lowers the chance of peer disruption, and helps students maintain focus on tasks. The design also supports social distancing and personal space, which can be comforting for students who struggle with sensory overload.
Headphones for Audio Accommodations Rationale: Headphones will be provided for students with auditory processing challenges or sensitivity to noise. These accommodations help block out background noise, allowing students to better focus on instructional content and reduce anxiety caused by auditory distractions.
Expected Outcomes: Decreased classroom disruptions and distractions during instruction time Reduced anxiety and stress among students Improved student focus and engagement Enhanced academic performance and positive behavior Increased inclusivity by supporting diverse sensory and learning needs
