McCarroll Middle School has hosted the community wide celebration for Dia de los Muertos for three years now. This grant would provide the opportunity for McCarroll students and staff to be more vested in the celebration by creating a backdrop/set for the stage and to learn some traditional Mexican dance steps to engage the other participants. The Theater Arts classes will host the dance classes for students to attend. The lessons would be provided by a Folklorico Dance troupe from the metroplex. The Visual Arts students will design and paint a backdrop/set for the stage to help create the festive and celebratory environment for our Dia de Los Muertos festivities. The Ag/shop classes will build and secure the set pieces. These activities will be incorporated in the 2026-27 school year and will be in addition to the support McCarroll gives the celebration in years past.
