Impact: DHS Technology and Esports students

The computers and monitors I am applying for with this grant will allow students to compete at a higher level against other schools in our Esports afterschool program. In addition, this equipment will assist students with diagraming computer parts and in understanding their functions in my courses. They will also be used to aid in recruiting additional students. I believe adding higher functioning computers will exponentially increase the engagement of my current and future students. Each school year, my budget is allotted to curriculum and Industry Based Certifications, which doesn’t leave much room for upgrades. We live in a technology world, and understanding and being proficient in the use of computers and technology will give our students an advantage in college as well as their future careers. Our Esports students are currently hard at work practicing and having fun doing it. We will begin league play in early February. Last year we were blessed with 3 computers and am extremely grateful. However, some of our teams consist of 5 people. It would be of great benefit to purchase the remaining 2 computers with monitors for the group to help the whole team excel. I truly believe that having the right equipment will help the students compete with confidence and assurance that the school and community are there for them.
