These materials will be implemented in large groups, small groups, and during center time, where the kids will get an opportunity to work with the alphabet and get hands-on experiences learning to hear sounds and patterns in literacy. This project seeks funding to purchase literacy-based manipulatives designed by Tara West’s Little Minds at Work. In Kindergarten, we often are one of a child's first experiences with reading, students often come to us having seen or knowing the alphabet and its sounds; but equipping our learners with these hands on materials will allow them to explore hands-on tools rooted in the Science of Reading. We can support the development of phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension through developmentally appropriate, play-based learning. Help us foster stronger reading foundations and ensure every child has access to effective early literacy instruction.
